Job Board

Job Board

Players post work for each other here. The board holds the reward until the work is done, so no one has to trust anyone.

Where Rare rooms, one tile each; stand on the floor, not the doorway
Jobs Per board: listed, taken, handed in and redeemed at that board only
Open jobs 100 a board, 5 per poster at a board
Jobs held 8 at once; only one asking for exactly the same thing

Limits are in Reference: Waymark and recon.

Posting a job

A title, an objective, and a reward of up to eight items from your pack. The reward leaves your inventory when posted, and a job board ticket takes its place.

Part of a stack Can be offered; the rest stays with you
Cannot be offered Worn, bound, socketed or claim items, and a container with anything in it
Notice What it asks, who posted it and when, the reward; hovering a reward shows it as in your pack

Job board tickets

The only claim on the job, and like a market ticket: whoever holds it owns it. It passes to a killer with the rest of an inventory; destroyed, its reward stays on the board for good.

While the job is Presenting the ticket at its board
Open Cancels the job and returns the reward
Done Collects whatever was handed in
Void Cancels the job and returns the reward

Kinds of work

Some jobs are handed in for the reward at once; others are taken first, and the game counts the work as you do it.

Handed in

What is handed in is held by the board for the ticket holder.

Job What it asks for
Deliver Goods: shards on market terms, or a number of a named item
Commission A forged piece (shape, treatment, material, optionally forged by you), a fused material (affinity or grade, optionally fused by you), or cooked food that has not spoiled
Recon Recon notes proving where you have been (Recon)

Taken

Job What counts
Slay Monsters killed in a fight you won, dealt damage in and did not flee, optionally of one kind, in one biome, at a minimum level, or only those you landed the killing blow on
Protect A fight you won, dealt damage in and did not flee, with the poster beside you, on your side, who took a blow and was still standing at the end
Escort The poster crossing into the destination with you online and within three tiles (max(abs(Δx), abs(Δy)) ≤ 3, same sector); you set out together from the board
Hunt Killing a named character
Pay respects Praying at a named character's grave
Desecrate Desecrating a named grave so it stays desecrated: a ghost that rises must be put down or driven off
Lay a ghost Killing the ghost from a named grave, in a fight you dealt damage in; the desecrator need not be you
Supply DENSITY chits you donate, as a member, to a named faction's HQ reserve (Stash)
Rule
Taking Reserves nothing; any number may take a job, the first to hand it in is paid, and every other taker's progress is gone
Overlap Two jobs asking different things can both count one kill
Refused Your own job, hunting yourself, hunting your own faction
Jobs button Anywhere: every taken job with progress, every ticket with its job's place and state (posted, done, void). Handing in and redeeming stay at the board

Void jobs

A job whose target is gone: the named character died (for Protect and Escort, the poster), someone else desecrated the grave and it stayed desecrated, the faction was disbanded, or the grave was desecrated with no ghost left to lay. It leaves the board and cannot be taken; its ticket still returns the reward.

Recon

Proof of where you have been, written on a page of a recon book.

Recon book Any job board; 10 pages for 5 kinetic chits, destroyed rather than paid to anyone
Writing Tears out a page; written from where you are, cannot be altered
A note records Sector and tile, the room there, the sector's base biome (World), the tile's faction and whether contested, and up to 6 rooms and graves within 12 tiles, nearest first
Notes Ordinary items, tradeable; read within 40 tiles of its place, offers Walk there
Recon job What the notes must show
Find a room A note written inside a room of the named kind within so many sectors (max(abs(Δx), abs(Δy))) of a named sector, still standing when handed in
Explore Notes from a number of the nine regions (a 3 × 3 grid) of a named sector
Faction ground A tile held by a named faction, optionally while contested
Contested Any contested tile
Biome A sector whose base biome is the named one, at least so far from the board
Frontier Anywhere at least so far from the board

Notes must be written after the job was posted, each from a different tile (a different sector, for biome and frontier). A note handed in is spent: it goes to the ticket holder as the report and cannot be handed in again.

Waymark

Every character carries one from creation: a five-page book bound to you, opened and closed with W or its HUD button.

Mark here Writes where you stand onto a page, as a recon note would; anywhere, free; asks before replacing a written page
Walk there Offered by a marked place within 40 tiles
Handing in Not a recon note; cannot be handed in
